information Kimono rental in Kyoto during winter! Cold weather items are available in-store, so feel free to come empty-handed♪

Many people probably have heard that “Kyoto in winter is so cold❄️”

Especially the central area of Kyoto, which has lots of tourist spots, is a basin surrounded by mountains. The terrain causes extreme temperature fluctuations and low humidity, making it feel colder than the actual temperature.

Some may think that wearing a kimono in winter would be cold… But don’t worry—if you take the right precautions, you can stay warm and enjoy a comfortable stroll.

At Tekuteku Kyoto, we have everything you need, including innerwear, leggings, and hand warmers, so you can come empty-handed!

Fluffy bags, velour obi accessories, and other stylish and cute items that you can enjoy only in winter are also available👘

What we’ll be introducing this time is…

  • Cold-weather rental items
  • Rental items for cold days popular cafés loved by Kyoto locals

Hope this helps you!

Cold-weather rental items at Tekuteku Kyoto

All plans come with essential items for dressing, such as undershirts, sandals, tabi socks, and bags♪

During the winter season, we also prepare a full range of cold protection items for rent! So you can enjoy our services without bringing anything with you👘✨

  • HeatTech top and bottom (free)
  • Tabi socks liners (free)
  • Foot/hand hot pack (free)
  • Haori jacket (550 yen)
  • Shawl (550 yen)
  • Tippet (550 yen)
  • Arm warmers (free)

#1 Innerwear, leggings, socks for tabi socks liners, hand warmers, and more.

We provide innerwear (top and bottom), long socks to wear under tabi, and foot & hand warmers for free♪

Warm innerwear

Thermal innerwear (such as HeatTech) is recommended. Choose one with a wide-open neckline (front and back) or a V-neck so that it doesn’t show when wearing a kimono.

However, if you layer too much with heat-retaining clothing, you might get too warm while out and about!

Since a kimono isn’t as easy to take off as regular clothing, be mindful of how much you layer⚠️

If you’re unsure, feel free to ask the dressing staff for advice♪

Long leggings

Choose leggings or tights with open toes so you can wear them with tabi socks and zori sandals.(Both have separate toes)

If you’re wearing boots or pumps, stockings or tights are also fine♪

*Tekuteku Kyoto does not provide boots, so if you wish to wear them, please bring your own.

Hand warmers

Be sure to use hand warmers, which are perfect for keeping your hands warm♪

We sometimes receive inquiries about “stick-on hand warmers,” but we do not allow them because placing them inside the obi can lead to the risk of a burn from prolonged contact with heat💦

If you’re concerned about the cold and want to use a stick-on hand warmer, please consult with the dressing staff about where to place it✨

#2 Haori (overcoat) + 550 yen (tax included)

We offer a wide variety of colors, patterns, and styles for the haori! Feel free to choose one that matches your kimono.

Winter haori are made from thicker materials and often have sturdy linings, making them great for providing warmth as outerwear✨

#3 Shawl + 550 yen (tax included)

A shawl is also recommended for keeping your shoulders and neck warm.
We have a wide variety of options available for you as well!

This is a coordination that can be enjoyed especially in winter!

Tap here for the haori & shawl pricing plan.

#4 Tippet +550 yen (tax included)

The cold wind blowing in around your neck can be harsh, even while strolling.

We have tippets available to keep your neck and shoulders warm✨

Soft and fluffy, it looks adorable and is a popular item among our customers.
It’s light and compact, so it doesn’t take up much space when you remove it while on the move or at a cafe♪

You are also welcome to bring your own scarf☃️
A simple design is of course a great choice, but a fluffy, voluminous scarf also makes a wonderful accent to your kimono coordination♪

#5 Arm warmers

Arm covers effectively protect you from the cold wind sneaking in through the cuffs!

Since the fingertips are exposed, there’s no need to take them on and off like gloves while you’re out and about!

Going for a fully casual kimono style is also a great option!✨

You are also welcome to bring your own gloves!
Velvet or leather gloves pair well with kimono.

Lace gloves are adorable, but they might be a bit too cold for midwinter, so please keep that in mind💦

Cozy and Cute! Introducing Adorable Winter Items

In addition to winter accessories for warmth, we also have hair ornaments, obi clips, bags, and other seasonal items perfect for winter✨

Enjoy your own unique coordination!
