So, we have organized a list of frequently asked questions at Tekuteku Kyoto!
We’ve sorted them into different categories, such as kimono, rental plans, and necessary items.
1:About kimono
First, here are some questions about kimono.
We will explain the types of kimono and the time required for dressing up.
Types of kimono
At Tekuteku Kyoto, we offer a wide variety of kimonos, including antique, lace, houmongi, and furisode (available only at the Kiyomizu store).
Many of the kimonos we offer are made of pure silk.




At Tekuteku Kyoto’s Shijo Karasuma store, we have about 500 kimonos, and at the Kiyomizu store, we have about 800 kimonos. New kimonos constantly arrive in stock.

Kimono insurance
Tekuteku Kyoto’s kimono insurance is free of charge.
Additionally, we also guarantee repairs up to 3000yen for all kimonos.
We have some kimonos, such as those made of pure silk, which *are easy to deteriorate, and one-of-a-kind antique kimonos in.
Please take care when you wear store kimonos. For example, please use an umbrella in the rain and place a handkerchief on your lap while eating.
If the kimono gets dirty accidentally, please inform our staff.
Time required for dressing you in kimono
It takes about one hour to complete the process, from selecting a kimono to the dressing you up and hairstyling.
Please arrive at the store at on time.
2:About luggage and belongings
The second section covers questions about luggage and belongings.
These are some of the most frequently asked questions from our customers, so please refer to them.
Necessary items to bring
There is nothing you are required to bring.
All plans include everything needed for dressing, such as a hadajuban (innerwear), zori (sandals), tabi (socks), and a bag.
During the winter season, the following rentals are also available.
- Haori (550 yen)
- Tabi-shita (free of charge)
- Shawl (550 yen)
- Arm warmers (free of charge)
- Heattech top and bottom (free of charge)
- Foot warmers / Hand warmers (free of charge)
For the summer and winter seasons, we recommend you to bring the following items.

Additionally, the changing rooms are separated by male and female. (Men on the first floor, women on the second floor)
Since the changing areas are not private rooms, if you feel uncomfortable being in your underwear, please wear your innerwear before you come store.
Luggage and clothing storage
We offer free storage for items other than valuables and perishable foods (only during business hours).
We also offer storage for large items, such as suitcases.
No prior application is required, so please rest assured.
3:About the plans
The third section covers questions about the plans.
We will explain about plan changes and the couple plan.
Choosing and changing plans
At Tekuteku Kyoto, you can decide on your plan after arriving at the store.
If you have any preferences regarding the plan before your visit, please let us know through the questionnaire when making the reservation.
Even if you inform us through the questionnaire, you can still change your plan on the day of your visit.
Using the couple plan


If you would like to use the couple plan, please inform the staff after your arrival.
The couple plan applies only to a combination of men’s kimono (yukata) and women’s kimono (yukata).

4:Hairstyling and makeup
The fourth section covers questions about hairstyling and makeup.
We also explain the hairstyling fees.
Hairstyling
At Tekuteku Kyoto, hairstyling is available for 1,100 yen (tax included). You can also use the hairstyling service alone without renting a kimono.
Additionally, you can decorates your hair with ornaments at no extra charge♪
Tsumami-zaiku hair ornaments and kanzashi match perfectly with antique kimonos.
If you choose to set your hair on your own, please arrive at the store after completing it.
We also ask that you refrain from styling each other’s hair in the store.

We do not offer makeup services.
Please refrain from doing your own makeup or touch-ups in the store.
5:About reservations
The fifth section covers questions about reservations.
We will explain about reservation changes, cancellations, and kimono holds.
Please be sure to read about changes and cancellations.
Reservation changes
For reservation changes, please make the changes through the reservation confirmation email at least 24 hours before your reserved date. (You will need to cancel the former reservation and make a new one.)
If you exceed 24 hours prior to the time of your reserved date, please call the store.
For changes in the number of people or the time of your reservation, please call the store.
(Depending on availability, we may not be able to accept your request.)
Reservation cancellations
For reservation cancellations, please contact us by 6:00 PM on the day before your reservation.

Kimono hold/reservation
We do not offer kimono holds.
Please select your kimono after arriving at the store.
6:About returns
The sixth section covers questions about returns.
We will explain about return times and returning at a different store.
Return time
This times for each store are as follows.
- Tekuteku Kyoto Shijo Karasuma store: Until 8:30 PM
- Tekuteku Kyoto Kiyomizu store: Until 6:30 PM
We do not offer time extensions.
If the kimono is not returned within the above times, a late fee of 3,000 yen per person will be charged, so please be careful.
Next-day returns
At Tekuteku Kyoto, next-day returns are available.
Please return the kimono to the store by 2:00 PM the next day.
If you would like to use the next-day return service, please enter “Next-day return request” in the “Preferred Plan” section when making your web reservation.
If you request next-day return on the day of your visit, we may not be able to accommodate it.
The 5,000 yen deposit will be refunded after the kimono is returned.

Returning at a different store
Please refrain from returning the kimono to a store different from the one where it was rented.
(Example) If you rented a kimono at Tekuteku Kyoto Kiyomizu store, please return it to Tekuteku Kyoto Kiyomizu store.

Rental of photography props
You can use photography props such as dried flowers and masks.
They can be used only inside the store or in the surrounding area.
Please note that they cannot be taken outside for outings.
